01st May 2014

Great turnout at Edgmond Village Shotokan Karate Club tonight. Sensei’s Paul Connor (CSKF), David Byrne (CSKF) delivered their pre-set Dan grade basics to Dan Hill (EVSKC) and North Brock (EVSKC).

Both Dan and North are hoping to attain 1st Dan Black Belt this year and are fully supported by everyone at Cannon Shotokan Karate Federation as well as their own instructors from EVSKC Sensei’s John Hill and Steve Mason.

29th April 2014 - Grading Results

A brilliant grading was witnessed tonight by a panel of 6 black belt grading examiners.

Lewis Yardley performed brilliantly taking his first ever karate belt and is now awarded 10th Kyu Red Belt.

Bradley Yardley and Mitchell Byrne attempted and passed 5th Kyu Purple Belt so convincingly that they were given the opportunity by the panel to also grade to 4th Kyu Purple and White Belt, effectively taking 2 grading examinations each.

We’re pleased to have awarded both belts to Bradley and Mitchell which were earned unquestionably after a very tough double grading examination which lasted well over an hour. Both students displayed tremendous focus and spirit and are now considered to be senior grades within the club.

Many thanks to Sensei Gary Yardley, Sensei Jack Whitehouse, Sensei Thom Bartley, Sensei Paul Connor, Sensei David Byrne and Sensei Mark Hill for attending to grade the Cannon Shotokan Karate Federation students.

We would also like to thank the spectators for attending and showing their support during the grading examinations and a special thank you to Hayden Carter who assisted with Sanbon Kumite partner work as well as normal free style Kumite.

Very well done to everyone - Grading tonight or not we’ve got a very good club with high standards.... Keep up the good work. OSS!!
